I am a first year student at Smith College, looking to aid students in conquering their fears and struggles of studies in a particular area. During my free time, I like to read, marathon dramas, and learn new languages. As for the areas of tutoring, I specialize in humanities and languages(especially any level of Chinese), and any level of mathematics up to Algebra II. In terms of my tutoring style, I encourage active learning and strongly advocate for student participation in a tutoring session. I have no qualms about answering questions or explaining a concept more than once (it's what I'm here for), but the student has to "want to learn." for me to do my job well. I take full responsibility in making sure that a student is well prepared for any assignment or exam. Before tutoring a student though, I like to prepare for the session by meeting with the student and asking the student what they wish to cover in advance, as well as compiling a sheet with notes and important points for them to keep after the session. This first meet is a free trial to see if you and I are a good fit. If not, then I will recommend you to another tutor. If so, then we have a tutoring relationship.
