Experience
As a Senior Writing Associate at Amherst College, I work with a lot of writers, students and faculty, and have developed skills to help writers at any stage in the writing process. I have 20 years of teaching/tutoring experience in a variety of settings (public, private, adult ed; college, high school) and to multiple age groups. In previous professional positions, I have served as an editor and project manager in academic publishing. My primary aim as a writing instructor is to help students realize their potential as writers (and thinkers). I firmly believe in focusing on a person's writing and helping students develop ability, which can help them let go of the fixed notion of being a "bad writer." I have lots of tips and tricks to get you going, to help you revise, to help you learn more about writing and the writing process, and to help you grow as a writer.
